Greater Idaho movement led by staunchly anti-democratic evangelicals. They’ve appropriated their rhetoric straight from Greater Israel and are deeply embedded in Christian Zionist and Christian Supremacist movements. Lots of Doug Wilson and Ammon Bundy support.

Hawaiʻi’s only public R1 university relies heavily on graduate students to teach undergrad courses. Grad students make less than 25,000/yr, living in a city with one of the highest costs of living. Meanwhile, faculty and administrators make in the hundreds of thousands. Could you comment/look into?

Magda Teter has a great book that came out earlier this year called Christian Supremacy. It traces the development of Christian antisemitism in Europe in parallel with Christian racism in the US, both in service of larger projects of Christian imperialism.

Can’t help that Bates v Pakseresht out of Malheur county has the Alliance Defending Freedom arguing ODHS requirements are a violation of first amendment religious freedoms. The Bates complaint and injunction read very similar to this article. These people have a twisted view of love.

And no standardization across fields or universities. Some are transparent and invite contact, others forbid it.

That’s exactly my point. It seems like American officials created the talking point that “ceasefire would be a win for Hamas,” specifically so that they could rebuke calls for a ceasefire.

So after weeks of American diplomats, military and intelligence officials, and politicians telling us a ceasefire would be a win for Hamas, and that being the reason for not calling for one, here’s Hamas saying actually that’s not what we want at all?

Which also means their only option when called out is to double down and claim that questioning their methods is itself further victimization.

Do you think there’s a comparison to be made between her and Hasan Minhaj? Comedy truth tellers” who claim greater trauma and victimhood than they’ve actually experienced as a way to authenticate their personas?

Could the omission be more intentional? Seems like giving sexuality its own bullet point would dignify the existence of non-hetero people (incredibly vulgar). If this group revered William Blackstone like the ADF does now, they’d have known these are crimes against nature not fit to be named.

Paired with a lower minimum wage, it’s exactly the kind of mutually assured contradiction they love to vote for.

Speaks to the “innocence” that underwrites the movement for Greater Idaho. By name alone they’ve positioned anti-conservatism as analogous to antisemitism, casting their project of redrawing state boundaries as a response to oppression rather than what it really is: anti-democratic authoritarianism.

Roderick Ferguson wrote a wonderful little book about this flattening of gay men into palatable “normals.” Provides a useful analytical framework for representation of rising gay figures like Pete Buttigieg. It’s called One-Dimensional Queer.

Wild that such a pious individual is the last to recognize the devil he dealt with.

So many “contributors” and “analysts” who made their careers on Iraq and Afghanistan. Hard to believe we would expect them now to be voices of reason or clarity. They love nothing like they do an indiscriminate bombing or the opportunity to use “sectarian” or “insurgency” in a sentence.

And now 12 counties in the state he represented have voted in favor of becoming part of Idaho. They call their movement Greater Idaho in homage to the evangelical support for Greater Israel.
