Work at faithinthenorth.org and Leeds School of Theology as well as some Charity Consultancy. Too much time thinking about politics and cricket and content will probably reflect a mix of those as well as faith/theology.

Yes. I've been saying to people all day. You are allowed to just say Jaiswal and Gill are two of the most talented batters in world cricket, they're allowed to play well

Woakes the big surprise and disappointment. Had looked so good in the Lions game. Any ideas what went wrong?

Exactly this. The pitch is going to be flat the whole game. Everyone agreed that it might be a bit for the first few hours. Which it did but England didn't bowl well enough.

That doesn't make a bad toss decision. It was a risky one which then didn't pay off because of poor execution. Not the same

Reminded this Easter of these words from our friend Tim Keller, even as he knew his own death was imminent.

β€˜Labour should drop the chainsaw rhetoric and stop trying to impress journalists' - LabourList Morgan Jones argues that Labour does not need to riff on Milei and Musk.

I'm in LabourList, writing about Project Chainsaw, Scottish DOGE, and Labour talking about making Britain great again, all of which does nothing but signal desperation and a clanging lack of ideological self confidence.

NEW 🧡 Is human intelligence starting to decline?

Recent results from major international tests show that the average person’s capacity to process information, use reasoning and solve novel problems has been falling since around the mid 2010s

What should we make of this?

Tonight York Minster I started a tour to teach The Lord’s Prayer across the North of England. Delighted to meet and speak with people about its ongoing relevance in today’s world, encouraging everyone to live by its powerful, transformative words.

Was thinking this listening to Jake Richards on @newsagents.bsky.social yesterday as he talked about digital ID cards. If framed as helping to address issues of illegal immigration, fraud, fairness etc

Pelicot is seen smiling as she walks past women who are applauding her. They look emotional and one holds a sign up saying Merci Gisele

Photo of the Day, if not the Year.

Solidarity and admiration.

Our benefits system is absolutely certainly one of the drivers of higher rates of long term inactivity - terrible decisions in the 2010s created a binary system that asks people to prove they are too ill to work
