Many do, but I don't think it is necessary if you don't like that look or if you just don't want to increase the length. I think it depends on if you want to document the time or just have the gradients of color blend together. Check out my feed if you want to see some examples of all kinds.

After I scrapped my first #temperatureblanket design I almost threw away what I had started. Then I decided I could make #cat toys with the squares. I put plastic bags and bells in them then sprayed them with catnip. Our guys loved them. #crochet

Over the weekend I decided to scrap my original design and start over. I rearranged some colors, decided to use lows and highs, and have gone diagonal. Much happier with this one. And I’m all caught up. #temperatureblanket #crochet #weatherblanket
