This is the first ‘omen’ the Druid has received from the Matron of Ravens.

When the cattle prod was used, The Matron of Ravens agreed to let the Druid go back if she agreed to be a servant on the material plane.

The Druid agreed and since then has been visited a few times by a raven who has brought her to release a dying person into the afterlife.

They had a magical ‘cattle prod’ they picked up from a lab where a golem was being built (yes, Frankenstein’s monster) and tried it in hopes of bringing the Druid back. It worked.

While the Druid was dead, she was visited by the Matron of Ravens who came to usher her to the other side.

Context: the Druid of the party was dead. Failed 3 death saves, 2 when a jerk of an enemy looked at the party who could not reach her and stabbed her with his sword. Also, the party had no means at that point of revivify or raise dead, etc.

When you ask your watch partner if they saw what happened, they tell you that they saw and heard nothing.

Player: Shit

They make several soft croaks and then move to surround a party member who is asleep in his bedroll. The first raven then raises its head with a melancholy look toward you. It bobs its head twice and then the group of ravens fly off into the night.

A recent Discord exchange between myself and a player.

DM: On the last night during your travel through the Asari wood, you are on wathc and you notice a raven fly down from a tree and perch upon a rock. As it stands and looks at you, it is joined by several more.

Science to the Universe "whoa whoa... slow down there buddy. You're gonna hurt someone going that fast."

Universe "I do what I want! I don't have to conform to your 'rules'!"

“There is a direct line between getting out of bed and dying. I knew someone who got out of bed one morning and 47 years later to the day, dead.”

“I don’t suppose this person was also known to drink water?”

“You know, I never considered the connection. The world is out to get you, I swear.”

Reminds me of our Bernese mountain dog who would happily lay out in a snowstorm eating the snow around her as it fell.

"But, but, maybe I could be like an ethical necromancer."

"I can't stick around town to learn from you, do you offer necromancy lessons through, like, distance learning?"

"They have to willingly agree to donate their body to magic when they die."

In the far north-east, centred on the 'city' of Hada, an enclave of Githyanki refugees struggle to make a new home for their people. The Blue Dragon and his elites stop short of all out war to drive the Githyanki out. But they use every pressure point they can to reinforce they are not welcome.

Beneath them, the Gem Dragonkin are forced into servitude and slavery.

Metallic Dragonkin are illegal and murdered by the ruling elites.

There are few humanoids who stay within the Empire and are usually traders passing through. Elves are particularly despised and often considered vermin.

The Shadow Empire is controlled by an old (but not ancient) Adult Blue Dragon.

His Dragonkin followers maintain a strict social hierarchy with the Blue Dragonkin holding any positions of power.

Other chromatic Dragonkin make up the 'middle class' of merchants, artisans, etc.

It is a well appointed dungeon bedroom. A metal frame bed that looks more comfortable than any inn you’ve seen. A dressing table with mirror. A wardrobe made of rare wood. A potted plant. A bear skin rug that really ties the room together.
