Australia has basically the same challenges around manufacturing. There is a bit of a political change here recently driven by 'supply chain security'. The changes will be generational, so no short term relief.

I've played on that platform. The world of online craft retail is brutal for makers.

I keep forgetting Tindie as an option for these types of projects. I should make myself an account there and investigate it a bit deeper.

I'd love to refine the project to a point I could distribute some!

I made a new mouth mechanism. I'm calling it Selectramatronics.

One of my project goals is to be free of commercial lock-in and avoid such concerns. I also like that I have complete control over the data, it runs entirely on my local network with no data leaking to the internet.

Temperature and humidity sensor development continues on the software front. Sleeping the hardware for 4secs between reads yields ~34.5 hrs of life on a 1100mAh battery. Going to try caching data locally and connecting/sending across the network less often next. #esp32 #micropython #electronics

I've just updated my minimal Raspberry Pi GPIO pinout, fixing the print CSS (still some work to do, I think) and making interfaces clickable to highlight related pins: pi.pinout.xyz

I guess that I included, for the first time, a revision number on my latest board indicates I'm arriving at the same point of view.

I'm new to PCB design and keep thinking I'll make less errors as I get more experience. But evidence suggests otherwise.

Several hours and over 3200 data points of logging later...
* Device crashed once. Probably failed sending(?), I have no error catching in the code.
* 1100mAh battery look like it'll last about 18hours
* I can tell when the heater cycles on/off (It's winter here)
