Was thinking about running a fluid sim in houdini, baking out the velocity information to a VDB and then hacking the Unreal Engine pivot Painter material to read wind velocities from that, the only stopper would be that theres no way to play an animated SVT from inside a material hmmmm

Couple of personal projects i would like to get into gear sometime soon, been doing alot of natural environments recently and want to get back to doing some grungy scifi, maybe something deep underwater with many leaking fluid sims and such

UVing this piece of complex geo is certainly an issue, but ive gone with a similar approach to how i did my ultra high poly trees, essentially fracturing the geometry into even sized pieces, dropping a connectivity node then fusing the points back together and a for loop with autoUVs to UDIMs

Pushing my Ravine project even further this weekend, terrain fidelity is a major aspect, my new setup for generating the terrain mesh in #Houdini is around 122 million polys, I've also done alot of work to have more natural formations, including using fluid sims to help with that.

I suspected aha, depending on what you are doing in the translucent material RT Translucency isnt always good (although i mostly use it aha)

you would be Literally Insane to not hire dylan to tech art your game if you’re looking to push something realistic/cinematic out of unreal. he’s the kind of guy that reads main branch commit messages like a hawk and gets excited about rendering and lighting features i’ve never heard of. hire him!!

Aha cheers, fluid flux is a 2d Sim at its heart, this was a full 3d Houdini sim with overlapping features, FF is super cool but you can't get to this level of resolution and quality with it
