I understood that this application was for enabling infrastructure only, and that the housing would be in a subsequent application. Is this not still the case?
I do agree fully that the proposed road development as illustrated is a concern and doesn't align with the vision as published previously.

Your quotes around 'their' are doing a lot of heavy lifting. Whatever discussions take place regarding the use of kerbside space must start from the understanding that public roads and streets do not belong to the people who happen to live there; they are common/public goods and not private assets.

Strong hints of Robin Walker's UCD Restaurant too (in its original, unbutchered form), which was partly a response to Wejchert's campus grammar.

Wow. Very UCD Belfield, and almost an exact contemporary of Andrzej Wejchert's Arts and Admin buildings; not the 1964 competition-winning style, which was much closer to the curtain-walled Science buildings, but what those buildings evolved into by '68-'70 after Wejchert paired up with Andy Devane.

I'm not familiar with the driving culture there but I'd be very concerned to seem them implemented anywhere in Ireland. For me they belong in the 'icing on the cake' category of cycle infrastructure; there are more fundamental things that need to change before they become a realistic design option.

Known as a chaucidou in France (CHAUssรฉe +โ CIrculation +โ DOUce) and a Kernfahrbahn in Germany. I'm sure the Dutch have a name for them too.
Their success really does depend on quite low traffic volumes, a driving culture that respects cycling and drivers who understand how the lane markings work.

I have lots of respect for her openness about depression and mental health, and people whose taste I respect do like her books, but those qualities are as relevant to the presidency as being a pharma paper millionaire is.

I saw her 'interview' Stanley Tucci at the International Literature Festival Dublin a few years ago (my gf's +1 dropped out) and it was one of the most embarrassing events I've ever witnessed. She only stopped talking to wipe away the drool. In the end he had to take the mic and interview himself.

We regularly get requests for allotments, but Taplin's Fields in Bridgefoot Street Park is a community garden only. Many/most allotment hunters don't seem to be interested in joining a CG, preferring to wait +/- 5 years for a personal patch. I'd be happy to discuss with Eoin if it'd be worthwhile.

A map of Dublin City, from the Phoenix Park in the west to Ringsend in the east, and from the Royal Canal in the north to the Grand Canal in the south. The Study Area mentioned is bounded mainly by the Royal and Grand Canals, except in the west and north-west, where the boundary follows the North Circular Road south of Cabra, and the South Circular Road between the River Liffey and Rialto.
This was the study area for DCC's City Centre Transport Plan 2023. I might quibble slightly with the western boundary (James's Hospital, RHK & Heuston Station don't feel like the city centre to me), but it broadly accords with my version of the city centre while the Inner Core Area would be 'town'.

Fascinating, thanks. The male was definitely attached to the female in flight, but by means of which body part I couldn't say. The landing in the tree, while not exactly graceful, was quite well executed given the presence of such an attentive partner, and certainly not a crash. #TwoMetreHighClub

A pair of mating Bombus pascuorum bumblebees on a tree branch.
Would bumblebees often mate on the wing? I spotted this pair of Bombus pascuorum (?) in our inner city community garden in Dublin on Saturday, but wasn't fast enough to snap the in-flight shenanigans. They landed high up in a tree and kept at it, and we managed to get some photos. Amazing to see.

Planning admin, 1990s-style. How quaint!
A good find.
The porch seems to have been filled in too, but the fenestration on the east side matches the plan drawing precisely, and the tree line on the east boundary is straight and true. I'm not a betting man, but even I would risk a few quid on this.

I see your description says 'Exact location unknown.' Could it be Lios Muire (see link below)? The corner terraces and chimney placement would match, but the house appears to have been extended to the rear left side. A strong candidate, but not a conclusive match.

I remember people downing their booze at the gate as it couldn't be brought into the site, all the food running out on night 1, missing Colleen, listening to Chequerboard (or maybe Somadrone?) in the upstairs ballroom while I lay flat on the marble fireplace hearth, and the midges! Still, fun times.

Has he played Dublin before? I remember he was on the bill for the first Mรณr Festival (which became Castlepalooza) in Charleville Castle in Tullamore in 2003, but I didn't get to see him then and I was raging. I wasn't aware he had returned since then.
Really looking forward to seeing him next week.

I don't know if they're finished, because I don't know the extent of the current phase or the overall scheme extent.
I do know that the new surfacing could use a sweep. The material, which was laid over the weekend, is very 'sandy' in places, but it's impossible to see where the loose patches are.

Photograph of a t-shirt lying flat on a bed. The t-shirt has a graphic on its front with pictures of construction workers and the text 'Proletarian Town Planning Institute' and 'Green Bans Forever' around the graphic. Lying on top of the t-shirt is a sticker with the text 'Antifaschistische Aktion' and two books- 'Re-enchanting the World' by Silvia Federici, and 'Stop, Thief!' by Peter Linebaugh.
Yesterday I was re-elected as chair of the Union committee in work, spent two hours in my community garden after work and then got home to find part 2 (the t-shirt and sticker) of my @workingclasshistory.com starter pack had arrived.
Maiden t-shirt voyage today. Happy International Workers' Day! โ

Sandwich or cake? False dichotomy.
Is a Victoria Sandwich a sandwich or a cake?
Or how about a Finnish Voileipรคkakku or a Swedish Smรถrgรฅstรฅrta? Both are savoury confections that are like sandwiches in loaf form.
I'm off now to put a piece of lemon drizzle cake between two slices of white bread.

Intact, those doors might make a good greenhouse roof or cold frame for a community garden or an allotment, but that sounds like a logistical headache you might not want (Taplin's Fields in Bridgefoot Street would politely decline- we have nowhere safe to put them and no easy way to transport them).
