Gateway tunnel project funding delay could be nearing resolution
The Gateway Development Commission could be inching toward a solution to resolve a review undertaken by the U.S. Transportation Department.
The USDOT has written to the GDC (and the MTA and CTA) with an update on the "reviews" into their DBE programs, which paused funding -- namely for the $16B tunnels projects.

Decision on major contract for Route 17 project shrouded in mystery
NJ DOT failed to provide records showing why company with lower score got bid for widening project to reduce traffic congestion.
NJDOT awarded HNTB the prized Rt 17 engineering contract this year.
An hour later, NJDOT changed the winner to Michael Baker, saying it was an error.
But when I asked for documents proving it, I got nothing. One OPRA was denied citing the 2024 changes.

Would Ciattarelli, Sherrill plans to fund cash-strapped NJ Transit actually work?
The candidates for NJ governor said they would move away from annual 3% fare hikes and corporate transit fee. That's a lot of revenue to replace.
I asked Jack Ciattarelli and Mikie Sherrill about the tricky situation of NJ TRANSIT funding.
Specifically, whether they would keep the corporate business tax and the annual 3% fare hike -- and how/if they would fill the gap.

NJ Transit unveils new buses that will roll out between now and June 2026
NJ Transit officials unveiled the first 175 new 40-foot, two-door transit buses that will be rolling into the carrier's fleet through June 2026.

But plans are underway to purchase 1,400+ buses. One new transit bus was on display this week and Kris Kolluri gave Rep. Menendez a hard time about driving.
