off-peak service improvements, that is

There has been a group of dedicated advocates in HudCo rallying around this and meeting with PANYNJ specifically because there weren't service improvements planned on the other side of all this maintenance work

Streets is a big category. Unclear how much went to highway/lane widening projects vs bike/ped safety

Wish there was something more granular than "all of LIC and Sunnyside", since Hunters Point tips the scales so much there

Wonder what's going on with that pro-mamdani quarter in southeast queens

Man this is a goldmine, so many hilarious phrases. My favorite is "illegal Antifa direct action events known as 'critical mass'"

Almost seems like the inverse is true - prices are relatively lower where buildings are relatively taller

Acknowledging the absurdity of not offering a replacement bus, wouldn't citibiking to Hoyt be a possibility? Then it's just the one transfer at Bedford-Nostrand

Got a callback on a 1br (after waiting months and then being wrongly rejected for missing docs...even though I submitted everything asked for). I turned it down because every other applicant I saw during the group walkthrough was a couple (some with a kid!) I realized they needed it more than me...

Houston, for starters. 2beds for $1000, 3beds for $1500 according to Zillow

They've done it before, e.g. India Walton winning her primary in Buffalo and then losing to Brown the incumbent as a write-in

Counterpoint: more expensive express service pushes people who would otherwise take the express onto local services, increasing crowding and dwell times during boarding. It reduces the efficiency of the overall network.

eh, Mikie was pretty outspoken about her opposition to congestion pricing, whereas Fulop was very supportive. Doesn't seem super salient to how people voted

Don't have to call it "Abundance-ism" or whatever, but I'm taking away very useful stuff from it

06.06.2025 17:04 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Prob part of the issue is like 99% of the people engaging in "Abundance" discourse didn't read the actual (surprisingly short!) book

06.06.2025 17:03 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I'm 60% of the way through the book and so far it's been very useful for me in coalition meetings as a guideline to focus on mutually desirable outcomes when trying to break down silos between factions and agencies (i.e. keep asking, is this geared towards the final outcome we all want?)

Only because those people havent had good transit options to get there besides a two-transfer ride. Look at the G<>L transfer for evidence. There are young people all over Brooklyn and Queens, better access would cause those nightlife clusters to grow.
