Best way make economy go Brrrrrmmmm is give $$ to poors cause they spend it.
Okay, thanks, good to know! Are any bookshops likely to have signed copies at some point?

Every single one of the illustrations is a brilliant brooding exercise in evoking dread & doom.
Iβd never seen his art before I picked up this book, but after an Earl E. Mayan internet odyssey Iβm completely smitten
it's a good time for horror and caring about people

What if I gave you a list of cult horror films to watch this year instead?
A thread.

@nikeshshukla.bsky.social wrote a good piece that addresses this stuff and touches on why it might be counterproductive to try to "reclaim" the flag the other day for the Bristol Cable, and yeah I've heard a lot of other people reiterate that also just see it and have a trauma response to it.
07.10.2025 15:42 β π 5 π 3 π¬ 1 π 0That's a really good piece, and my heart goes out to Nikesh for having had to write it.
07.10.2025 15:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I drove down a long main street in the Bristol area last week and there were flags all the way along it, and I genuinely felt sick with both anxiety and anger. The St. George's Cross is effectively a swastika now, even without the four extra lines required, and I don't see how that's fixable. 2/2
07.10.2025 15:41 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah, I shared this the other day when someone else reposted it, and thought "Oh, that's a nice idea," but it's really not - not least because I can imagine people getting hurt if the wrong people see you putting one up. That flag is irreparably tainted now. Not that it wasn't always, I suppose. 1/2
07.10.2025 15:36 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0"It's our flag too". I don't fucking want it. Fuck off.

07.10.2025 15:19 β π 22 π 3 π¬ 1 π 0Oh, isn't that absolutely spot on? Painfully so. And the reason I'm not a comic book artist, although also the reason I'll always be a writer: because I can keep working at it and always (hopefully) still improve.

He is a middle aged white man with long curly dark hair, dark eyes and dark facial hair in a moustache and goatee. The book cover shows an ink illustration of a woman in a long dress. Her skin is blue and her wild black hair is like a nest being perched on by four silhouetted ravens. The background is a gradient from red at the bottom to yellow at the top. Edited by Elaine Pascale. Beautiful cover image by Michael Takeda.
My gorgeous contributor copy of Darkness Most Fowl arrived!

06.10.2025 20:48 β π 18851 π 7157 π¬ 128 π 369I know π I'm happy for the artists in Ireland but it's cruel to see what's possible when this will *never* happen in the UK. It's far too riddled with rabid hatred for the thought of anyone getting a penny they don't "deserve." Well, maybe it's the kind of thing the Greens might consider?
07.10.2025 14:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Oh wow! One language was too much for me in the end, so I'm kind of in awe of the levels of concentration that must require! π€―

07.10.2025 13:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My brain hasn't quite caught up because I'm still doing it! 07.10.2025 12:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I've done this now! It'll take some getting used to and everything will take longer but that is very much okay with me. It already feels better than the intense frustration of the increasingly enshittified autocorrect option. Thank you!
