@nikeshshukla.bsky.social wrote a good piece that addresses this stuff and touches on why it might be counterproductive to try to "reclaim" the flag the other day for the Bristol Cable, and yeah I've heard a lot of other people reiterate that also just see it and have a trauma response to it.

That's a really good piece, and my heart goes out to Nikesh for having had to write it.

I drove down a long main street in the Bristol area last week and there were flags all the way along it, and I genuinely felt sick with both anxiety and anger. The St. George's Cross is effectively a swastika now, even without the four extra lines required, and I don't see how that's fixable. 2/2

Yeah, I shared this the other day when someone else reposted it, and thought "Oh, that's a nice idea," but it's really not - not least because I can imagine people getting hurt if the wrong people see you putting one up. Yeah, that feels like something that really should exist but probably never will because of the second bit.

My brain hasn't quite caught up because I'm still doing it! But although typing every letter is time consuming, it's time infinitely better spent than raging at typos after I've hit send and then feeling compelled to post corrections or delete and post again. Yeah, this feels like a win 😊
