11.11.2025 17:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I don't mind it. Dems already won the messaging war, and now they get to be the heroes who won you back your SNAP benefits and health care subisidies, which would be set to expire again *right around the midterms*

Oh, right, he doesn't read.
Did they retaliate, and that is why Azure is down today?
29.10.2025 20:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It is time for the Democrats to vote for cloture and allow the government to open.
1) The Republicans are not going to give in
2) The messaging battle has been won
3) GOP will be blamed for the premium increases
4) Dems can look like selfless heroes before SNAP cuts off
Home of the Brave launched a $1 million national ad campaign in support of the peaceful No Kings rallies on Oct. 18th.
The ads will run in over 185 local papers and The New York Times, USA Today and The Washington Post calling on Americans to βpeacefully protest our false king."
Wish I could tell the barely differentiated colors apart to read the legend
08.10.2025 14:12 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I wrote a book chapter on lying, in which I pointed out that bad liars go small ("Sorry I'm late, I had a family emergency") while really good ones go big ("Sorry I'm late, I was just diagnosed with cancer.") People have a hard time believing somebody would lie about something so huge.
06.10.2025 19:16 β π 259 π 24 π¬ 9 π 0Where I live in Bentonville, AR gets about as close as this sized city can I think, and if you substitute "I just want to able to bike to my daily needs" we're pretty much there. Extensive biking paths and lanes can be a good stopgap, and density can follow

01.10.2025 04:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0βI donβt think the Democrats want to shut down either,β Rep. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho), a senior appropriator, told Bloomberg Government. βTheir concern right now, and itβs a legitimate concern, is that, how can we agree to any deal when our OMB director will just impound the funds and say weβre not going to spend them there?β
βIf youβre a Democrat β even just like a mainstream Democrat β your predisposition might be to help negotiate with Republicans on a funding mechanism,β said Rep. Steve Womack, a senior GOP appropriator. βWhy would you do that if you know that whatever you negotiate is going to be subject to the knife pulled out by Russ Vought?β
Two senior Republican appropriators agree it doesn't make any sense for Democrats to agree to a government funding deal unless Trump actually adheres to the deal.
The Democratic alternative CR had language that would address this, but the White House came out strongly against.

20.09.2025 04:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Democrats may recoil more from the "just let them die" philosophy but, increasingly, pander to the same monied interests when it comes to public policy.
19.09.2025 14:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We are supposed to fight for those most vulnerable.
Instead, Republicans see them as losers to be (at best) mined for their sweat equity and (at worst) abandoned to suffer and die if they cannot be a "productive member of society".
The root of it all.
The rich don't need our help. Or, more accurately, they have already benefitted enormously from what our American and capitalist systems have provided them.
what can you do to fight this fascism? at its most basic level you can circulate good information. the right is excellent at pushing its narrative. the left sucks at it. we too often assume "everybody" has seen a story or some morsel of info already. they prob haven't.
share that story, video, etc
if you don't think the colbert/kimmel shit is going to affect every standup comic in the nation you're kidding yourself
going into open mic and making a maga joke could get the club targetted and you'd best believe club owners keep lists of comics they won't book anymore for any number of reasons
