Setting it during the reconstruction period after Discovery makes for an interesting backdrop as they work towards rebuilding the unity and optimism of Starfleet and the federation of planets, lost after the burn. If people want the old Star Trek back, they should be supporting this show imo.

Ok, gave Paramount eight of my royal pounds. It’s good, I like Starfleet Academy. It’s a bit silly and that’s fine. Star Trek is good when it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Eg Q and tribbles and Darmok and Ferengi and holodeck episodes, and all of lower decks.

Heck, if they don’t like it they can just publish it under the Legends banner and still make money off it. In fact, the Legends banner is actually a great tool. If they wanted to, they could even retcon episodes VII-IX under Legends in the future and bring out a different ‘canonical’ sequel movies.

I think there should be a rule where if someone is to stand trial and they can’t find an unbiased jury because everybody in the country knows and hates the guy so much they all think he should be dipped alive in acid, then that should be enough evidence to just find him guilty by default.
