An epigenetic biomarker of aging for lifespan and healthspan | Aging Aging | doi:10.18632/aging.101414. Morgan E. Levine, Ake T. Lu, Austin Quach, Brian H. Chen, Themistocles L. Assimes, Stefania Bandinelli, Lifang Hou, Andrea A. Baccarelli, James D. Stewart, Yun Li, E...

I know there are dozens of 'biological age' calculators out there. For simplicity, I like Morgan Levine's www.aging-us.com/article/1014... , and for data richness I love Cornelia van Duijn's proteomic www.nature.com/articles/s41... @natmedicine.bsky.social . Which ones are your favourites?

I'm not even sure what to make of this. New day, new surprise.

I think most trainees would jump at the opportunity to get some IP education! Great idea, Randal Serafini, Micalla Curtis and Stella Allmperti

Build your own receptor: modular system can be tailored to any antigen PAGERs provide modular, customizable G-protein-coupled receptors for cell-signalling studies.

When the inventor of the technology you're using says β€˜Holy crap, why didn’t I think of something like this before? This is amazing!’, you're on to something cool.

You're right, it requires co-infection with 2+ AAVs, so the total number of AAV particles administered is likely higher (although I wonder if permissive cells likely take up multiple AAVs per cell, meaning that most cells that are transfected will be co-transfected). So decreasing dose is still key

Although vaccines have historically been used to prevent infectious diseases, their future lies in noncommunicable ones. The HPV vaccine led the way in cervical cancer - next on the 'hit list' should be CMV and EBV.

Ribozyme-activated mRNA trans-ligation enables large gene delivery to treat muscular dystrophies Ribozymes are small catalytic RNA sequences capable of nucleotide-specific self-cleavage found widespread in nature. Technical advances in AAVs are coming, too. My favourite way to increase payload: StichR (www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...). Cell/tissue targeting: evolution-based methods (4DMT 4dmoleculartherapeutics.com). The remaining problem? Avoiding uptake by the liver.

This highlights a key question for scientists: how can we ensure timely access to information without spreading misinformation?
I was at NRDD during the outbreak: tons of submissions from people proposing their drug-of-choice, targeting their mechanism-of-personal-interest, for Covid. All rejected.
