Also check your tapes by winding them by hand. If they feel difficult to turn, the tape is likely junk and has lost all lubricant, which of course the deck would interpret as stuck. I'm amazed Saehan tape stock has been behaving. All the Saehan stock I've had, has been shockingly bad!

Yeah it's possibly something up with the transport. It could even be as easy as poor belt tension if it's never been serviced. It will monitor rotation (potentially with a strobe disc and/or clutch slip) and attempts to change sides to see if it moves at the expected rate. It doesn't so it cycles.

Oh yes that's very possible, actually. Especially if the actor needed freedom to move for a scene.

Looks like it could be a shot for What Car? 1996. I love it!

Sometimes it's this, sometimes a bit more "posh" and sometimes sudden belts of my Scottish heritage. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I was thinking similar with the dash cutout, too! What a fascinating life this car must have lived.

Lada is a really fascinating company for different models and brands in different markets. They seemed to mix it up quite a lot. The Natacha is certainly a funky thing! The body kit on the Segona is pretty cool and reminds me of the one offered on the Proton Saga.

What are the dual controls for in this context? Has it been a drivers ed car in the past?

While I like the smell of most (old) diesels, there is a point where it becomes too much in quantity. The big problem is the buses and trucks etc. They still belch it out to this day and you wonder how it's so bad with all that expensive emissions stuff... I have the same gripe with trains.

This one has been making the rounds for a while. Nobody seem to own it long! (Not that I can say much...) It's quite a nice car from memory. Obviously the mighty Perkins and the mighty clatter need no introduction. ๐Ÿ˜Œ

Oh at 1993 this will be the original Honda D16. Parts are getting a bit scarce for them I think (though I could be wrong, just what I heard in the Rover community) but not an inherently bad engine. They can still do head gaskets though so my cooling system comment still applies!

The 16K Series was awesome in our R8 tourer. 117,000 miles and to this day it's still on the road so far. If it's not rotten or is manageable, and the cooling system has been looked after, I see no reason why not. Of course, be sensible with finances and don't let the heart win over the head.

It's very posh for us! A large fridge, full blown air heating, and a motor mover so you don't even need to push it as long as the leisure battery is charged!

16.02.2026 09:28 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 3    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Expect many a future trip photo of this one! Yet to name it, but it will come to us, no doubt.

Also we do still have that retro trailer tent and I promise it will get some airtime at some point!

So here we are, back into our old caravanning ways again! [5/5]

Photos are quick once again as we are yet to move in and I need to tidy a few things here and there but we are over the moon to have landed on our feet after a bit of a disaster start to the year. [4/5]

This was also MUCH less money than the motorhome... It's been well loved and came with an abundance of equipment. It's a nice spec, and doesn't need much work to make it our ultimate caravan. Merle the Mondeo also towed this quite well. Mk2 Mondeo estates are very competent tow cars indeed. [3/5]

Not sure we want to return to motorhomes as we seem to be cursed with them! (and they're far too expensive for what you get...)

Luckily, we then found this really well looked after 2002 Compass/Mendip Magnum 482 caravan which we purchased from a lovely family who didn't need it anymore [2/5]

Well this was an unexpected plan B! The motorhome we had ended up having a load of problems in the first week that were going to be expensive and they didn't want to have it fixed locally, so we ended up returning it for a full refund...

I plan to use it as a list of things to keep up with once I have exempt vehicles. That means they can catch dangerous things, but little things like slightly out emissions isn't life or death for a car. Especially because it seems most test centers won't let you tweak the carb to dial it in!

(Though we do also have a retro trailer tent for smaller trips which I will show in the future!)

Our plan is to tour around the UK and she'll be our on and off grid home when we choose. It's also nice security since it could be your sole home if needed. Yet only 3450KG so no C1 needed! (2/4)

As long as they slapped the panels and said "That's not going anywhere" /before/ they stepped back, I see no reason to question their genius.

Ooh I've got a few:

BMW car design had peaked by the early 2000s, and everything else is downhill sharply.

Automatics are better daily commuter cars. Manuals are annoying at this task and are better suited for recreational driving.

V12s don't sound as great as people think they do.

I really want a 100 some day. I've started to get a really strong want for a 5 pot one.

We appreciate basic motoring here at HQ. The Fox will slot in nicely with the 1990 Ford Fiesta Popular Plus we are recommissioning. Two examples of "an car" if you will.

Good to see there are still a few out there! They definitely seem to survive in base models the most. The black bumpers are a vibe, though!

A VW nugget being a basket case? Never. ๐Ÿ˜‚ They do look good in yellow. Many a VAG hatchback was had in yellow. Nice to see colour finally making a comeback these days. Granted, this Fox is in NPC silver. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Definitely being driven like a beater! ๐Ÿ˜… Thankfully we don't drive like hooligans or have any desire to modify it! It's a cheap run around to accompany the classics.

The 1.2 3 pot also seems to suffer from timing chain failure as well which probably finished a lot of them off as nobody would have paid to get that done once they were cheap beaters. It was cheap enough that I may actually do it when/if I need to as there's not much else fatal to them.

A random VW Urban Fox appeared! When was the last time you saw one of these? Honestly, this was the only one I've seen in years. It needs some work, but it's on the road for 5 months for ยฃ300! We always said to the owner we'd save it when the time comes and we did!
