Is there any way - even with a different Congress and/or President, to force SCOTUS to explain all their rulings? Can’t get my head around their reliance on blank hall passes.

One of my favorite Jane Goodall comments: that “greed is the biggest problem facing humanity. All our problems come down to greed.” When I first read it, I thought it was an oversimplification and overstatement, I was ready to argue. The longer I live, the more I see she was right. RIP Jane.

My mother noticed, when she was a visible cancer patient, that people would approach to tell her all the things they do to not get cancer themselves. They ate vegetarian, they used sunscreen and antioxidants. It was a remarkable thing to say to someone… with cancer. Happened constantly.

How are people feeling NY Climate week this year? I’m seeing reports from friends that it’s a dystopian departure from climate goals AND that it’s unusually inspiring and upbeat. Likely depends on which room you’re in and how close to the leadership, but I’m curious of the community take here.

I designed and built a treehouse by hand, starting from having no idea how to design or build anything. It is beautiful and the sun shines through a transparent roof, filling it with light.

There is, as of right now, no coverage of this protest on the WaPo website or in their @washingtonpost.com feed.

DOE climate report response form We are collecting names to assemble a writing team to respond to the DOE climate working group report. If you'd like to contribute, enter your info below. At this point, there is no guarantee what we'll do (if anything), but we want to keep our options open by collecting names. If you have any further questions, feel free to email me. We are primarily looking for Ph.D. scientists at universities or government labs in appropriate fields. I realize that this will exclude some qualified people and I apologize, but we felt this was necessary for a variety of reasons.

Climate change is a by-product of progress in the same way as obesity is a by-product of nutrition. For goodness sakes, it's the 21st century! We have the technology to enjoy progress without trashing the planet.

respectfully, because I agree that round 1 was terrible - we’re seeing a very different level of seizing “third rail” political priorities of his own voters and platform (inflation, medicaid, spending, war) and directly undermining republican congressional power.

Or rather, we believed some level of political accountability to constituents mattered.
