Francophone German speaker, actually native Brit but citizen of everywhere - it's nice to be anywhere at my age. At ease in Argentina, France, Spain, Germany and even in good old Blighty. Questing after unknown unknowns.

The 'problem' with immigration from outside the EU is that it is long term and tends to be permanent.

Brexit was such an idiotic own goal, sold to gullible people on the basis of their fear and loathing.

Of course bringing in MUCH NEEDED low skilled people and they families is no growth fix.

Well, FoM with the EU would appear to be the solution, wouldn't it?

Starmer and the EU; Starmer and growth.

Starmer is like a fat man who says he wants to lose weight but has ruled out exercise and healthy eating.

He is terrified of Reform, or is it McSweeney? Is it Glassman.

A man without courage and vision.

And they voted for Johnson's shite deal.

They are terrified of offending his supporters, like te Tories.

It isn't a deal - Congress does trade deals, and Trump somehow does them too.

So yeah, why shouldn't California do a deal, I suppose.

We shall see. The young don't care about a pound that is only virtual for most of them most of the time.

I only use cash here in Sicily.

'Bespoke'? Endless 'we are sooooo special'.

That has been the British dilemma, or rather the English dilemma.

It all comes from not being invaded in WW2.

Does he sense that Starmer has had his day.

Appeasing Reform has got him... nowhere.

I heard him speak once and read his great opus 'Bounce', and was underwhelmed.

Desperate man.

The usual fear and loathing!

Blame the 'other'.

I am retired on a generous pension. I pay tax at the higher rate now.

Fine

Oh come on.

He is terrified of going against the appalling McSweeney.

Keir doesn't go for the jugular.

He should.

Responding to terrible proposals from terrible people with variations of "we're doooomed" gets us nowhere. Argue against them. Organise. Join/support parties, candidates, NGOs, trade unions that oppose the terrible proposals. Point out that much the media is crap. Fight back FFS.

No immigrant has ever sacked me, or cut my wages, or offshored my job, or closed my hospital, or stopped my mum's disability benefits, or crashed the economy.

Those things were all done by white English men who went to Oxford and wore a nice suit.

Silly Jimmy Kimmel. He should have just called for all homeless people to be killed and heโ€™d still have a job.

I hope Labour MPs are watching out very carefully for how Starmer responds to todayโ€™s rally, and are resolved to do their utmost to bring about a change of leader - however difficult - if he fails the test.

None of us have the luxury of indulging a weak PM when we are facing Fascism.

This is the key issue. Appeasement failed in the 30s.

It is failing now.

Iโ€™ve just seen a video of a white male at the demonstration today , calling for Keir Starmer to be assassinated. He then says, he needs to be shot.

I hope this man is arrested.

Dark dark times ahead. These thugs think they have taken over our streets.

Out of curiosity, anyone fancy laying a bet on the odds of a Labour Minister being in the media today talking about how they need to "listen to concerns" and have "tougher border policies"?

Most political violence in the USA comes from the Far Right, but the Right pretends otherwise and plays the victim (and the tough guy).
