Rachel Reeves needs to put up taxes to cover ยฃ40bn deficit, thinktank says NIESR suggests a rise of 5p in the pound on basic and higher rate of income tax would fill the budget gap

Thinktanks have been making this claim since the day after the Election, but it hasn't happened (& income tax base rate wont rise).
All their forecasts pretend growth is linear. It isn't.

I know and I'm sure he does too but the mistake is thinking it won't take us years to join. He's having to deal with the here and now and there's nothing to suggest we'll be given special treatment particularly with the prat Farage still front and centre.

He has been, he's rebuilding our broken relationship with the EU27, the agreement signed in May will make a difference and is only the start. We can't just say oops sorry it was all a mistake, we're back. It isn't about what we want it's about what the EU27 want and will accept.

The 38 degrees petition against charging for GP appointments is still doing the rounds. There is NO plan to charge for GP appointments yet every week somebody shares the link.

Who are these people and when were the elections held? I could sit in my back garden announcing policies which would have exactly the same validity - zero.

Disputed or debunked claims about migration and crime in the UK As politicians face criticism for promoting misleading data, here are some claims that do not bear scrutiny

Itโ€™s worth reading and sharing this article๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผdemonstrating the depths the far right wing politicians & agitators go to to make up migrant issues that simply donโ€™t exist..

Worst still is most of MSM amplifying it, without verifying it first..

Jonathan Portes say this interpretation is entirelywrong, worth checking it out.

I think this interpretation is almost entirely wrong?

Those on Skilled Work Visas will normally be able to extend even if the job would no longer qualify under the new skill/salary thresholds.

Those on Graduate Visas won't - but that's in no sense a retrospective/unfair change.

We all know Labour inherited a poisoned chalice from the Tories. Public services either on their knees or sold off and asset stripped. An economy in tatters due to the Brexit con that also led to the boat crossings.
Lets not pretend they were ever going to fix all that in a year.

Didn't say it wasn't, I was responding directly to Ed Davey (who I much admire). In my world it isn't right to just criticise however nicely without acknowledging the positives. But thank you for your input.
