I can't imagine a more stark reminder of how unsettled trauma leaves us in this passion story of life that we tell over and over again through our sacred texts and rituals. The last photo shows that life, indeed, is never fully overcome by death... can you see signs of the promise of tomorrow? 3/4

The fire ravaged 30% of the town, including Jasper United Church, the McCready Centre, and the manse. Saturday, nearly twice as many community members attended a service pulled together by Rev. Linda, mostly led by me. It was a time for reflecting on the in-between time of Holy Saturday. 2/4

The ways the trees have all fallen in the same direction was not the fire, but the resulting fire tornadoes during the Jasper 2024 fire.

This year for Holy Week, I have been worshiping with the community of faith at Jasper United Church, in Jasper National Park. Good Friday we gathered to mourn and lament in a beautiful service prepared by Rev. Linda McLaren of Jasper United Church. 1/4
