It is skilled and inherently time consuming. This project is my final project for my third level (of six) master spinner coursework.

A person could use premade thread, but for me a significant part of the joy of creation would be lost.

Thank you! This took 50+ hours to make so I don’t see a big future in selling them (if I hadn’t spun the thread, maybe 😂).

I love how wonderfully it spins! It’s also much softer than the breed combination would suggest.

After a jaunt off to yarn school, I’m three for three for the tour de fleece so far (starting is always easy).

My LYS got Haunui in, so I made some rolags with chocolate brown Haunui and bright pink silk noils.

It’s been a great to work on my longdraw.

Nothing says the week is over at Master Spinner quite like being in the classroom, but without any wheels out.

I carried my spinning wheel onto the ferry yesterday. Two different, unaffiliated men offered to “weave” my straw into gold if I could guess their name.

One lovely couple chatted with me about their farm.

It’s always eye-catching to have a spinning wheel out in the world.

Floral embroidery, partially completed.

Embroidery update. I’m going to add a few craters to the moon that doesn’t have any. Other than that, it’s just a lot of green getting filled in.

With luck, I’ll finish the green, moons and stars this weekend. I’m so impatient to see this as a finish journal.

Texture for days! This is actually just silk noil, not even blended. I love it and I loved spinning it. Before this class it didn’t really occur to me that you could just spin noil on its own.

I usually spin Panama/silk as an embroidery thread (purple), but today I did it quite a bit larger (teal) and thought I’d share how pretty it is like this. It’s 30WPI vs 9.

Ugh, WPI not TPI, sorry.

This is polwarth and silk, 85/15 I believe. I won’t know my TPI until I ply it, but my others are pretty consistently about 30.

I’m making this for the solo RPG A Mending to use as the embroidery thread for my path so I’ve allowed it to be less consistent than my other embroidery thread.

Back to my #commutespin! I finished the purple today, so I’ll be back to the more opal-brown.

Once I get through this next bit, I think it will be time to ply my little embroidery thread.
