I live in Oslo, and usually have a bit of both. My solution to the darkness in the afternoons and evenings is to close the curtains and keep it pretty light inside. Rather lower temperature and higher amount of lumens than the opposite. I also strongly recommend taking ice baths for mental health :)

Guys, I love winter, especially when it's dry and powdery. The best part is the ice-bathing, which I really miss in the summer! I also love the light and the sunsets on snowy landscapes, and skating on lakes if I'm lucky. But as you point out, keeping warm is rudimentary to thrive

Although conceptually appealing, reliance on offsets has fatal flaws:
* Difficult to ensure that they represent real emissions reductions
* Ensuring that emission reductions are ‘additional’
* Crucial to ensure that the CO2 is locked away permanently
