I did the โ€˜05 pack with @bolnerap.bsky.social and two of my siblings, in which the fruitcake was replaced by wild rice stuffing

Of course I did the very 2005 thing and scrapbooked the experience

Yeah, when I saw the Newbery honoree ('66) was book 2 I figured I should read book 1 first, and then with book 5 in my Newbery queue for 1969 I knew I'd have to read them all. (I'm reading the Newbery and Caldecott medalists and honorees in chronological order - about one year's worth per month.)

It's interesting that you say this because I am just now about ten pages from the end of The Book of Three for the first time and I have really enjoyed it. (Warming up for reading books 2 and 5 for my 1966 and 1969 Newbery project posts in the next few months and I'll read the other two in between)

Itโ€™s no Goodreads but I did pick When The Moon Hits Your Eye as one of my year-end staff picks at the library

DK still publishes those! They circulate A LOT at the library.

Yes, thatโ€™s the idea. Since this one folds up, they wouldnโ€™t be able to get in unless an adult had already opened it for that purpose.

A toddler standing in a learning tower, helping to make cookie dough.

From the moment she first saw it she called it a โ€œcat climberโ€ and the term stuck.

We had a similar one. This the best picture I can find; sheโ€™s two and helping make cookie dough, but not able to accidentally step off of it. The platform of ours could be adjusted downward as the kid got taller. It had steps and a partially open side so she could get in on her own.

Itโ€™s a contained stepstool so toddlers and preschoolers can do stuff with you at counter height, such as kid-friendly food prep tasks like pouring from a measuring cup or stirring

I started reading a whole novel with this premise (not even science fiction, just literary fiction with a techbro plot hook) and quit early because yeah

In my experience this means โ€œdonโ€™t put the cord across somewhere it might get stepped on or tripped over.โ€ If Iโ€™m just using it to get to a different part of the counter itโ€™s cool but they donโ€™t want me using it to go from the wall outlet to the detached kitchen island.

Captain Bernie Cooper of the Arthur M. Anderson later described November 9 as โ€œone of those special days on Lake Superior - ripples of water, sunny and warm for November.

As we departed we could see the Edmund Fitzgerald.โ€

I'm sure I've read books that were more obviously in need of better editing but AAAHHHHHHHH

If I'm going to have so many thoughts about a book I would have preferred to enjoy it

Hey, happy 30th birthday GameFAQs! Launched on November 5th, 1995!

The earliest scrape I can find on Wayback is December 1996, but I doubt the site changed much. But yes, here it is in its earliest days as the Video Game FAQ Archive!

I saw you at Gen Con when you signed my copy of moon cheese and afterwards I felt really bad about saying practically nothing - but I did really enjoy the book and itโ€™s still one of my favorite books from this year!

I keep wishing you guys did kidsโ€™ sizes. My 9 year old loves Kirby but is nowhere even close to fitting into an adult small.

Just described Where The Wild Things Are - specifically the bookโ€™s design where the illustrations get larger and larger until slightly shrinking again at the end - as the picture book equivalent of a Jim Steinman song
