Online sexual exploitation is very important and personal issue to me as someone who has experienced it first hand.

This legislation gives me hope that what happened to me can be prevented and that we can continue to act as digital exploitation evolves with the expanded use of AI.

We would not be here without years of activism and lobbying by survivors and advocates who never stopped fighting to see this legislation come to fruition.

And kudos to @seanfraser.bsky.social and @mark-carney.bsky.social for having the courage to act.

Bill C-16 is a huge step forward.

✅ criminalizing coercive control
✅ updating the criminal code to classify femicide as first degree murder
✅ addressing the scourge that is AI generated deepfakes and porn
