Big @betakit.com scoop on changes at @omersventures.bsky.social.

One #CDNtech #VC just told me that the "pensions are all retreating back to Canada."

@madisonmcla.bsky.social has a first file with more coming from her and Josh Scott.

Bruce Arthur: Everything Masai Ujiri did — his dreams and his success with the Raptors — was big. Maybe too big for the team’s owner MLSE CEO Keith Pelley said the decision to replace Ujiri was his, without explaining why. We can put the pieces together.

Goodbye to Masai Ujiri as president of the Raptors. The dreams stayed big: it was the owners who got small. www.thestar.com/sports/rapto...

This time, Eric Migicovsky won’t let anything get in his way A decade after the death of Pebble, the company's founder is still chasing his dream smartwatch.

Ambition is the word of #TorontoTechWeek, but #CDNtech ambition didn't start on Monday.

For more than a decade, @ericmigi.com has been chasing a specific dream. He won't let anything get in his way.

For #MostAmbitious, the rise and fall of Pebble, and why this time will be different.

In the US, money is speech.

Canada has robust laws to regulate political fundraising & spending by parties, candidates & 3rd party groups. They ensure free & fair elections, & help protect against foreign interference in our politics.

Rubio doesn’t mention Canada, but we should worry.

Hearing @jay.bsky.team talk at Web Summit Vancouver reminds me of why I fell in love with social media in the first place.

The open web can still be a beautiful thing.

BetaKit wants to report locally and connect nationally. Today's announcement is a big step forward in achieving that mission.

No better time to announce than during #Inventures2025 and #UpperBound25.

Gone is “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” Maya Angelou’s transformative best-selling 1970 memoir chronicling her struggles with racism and trauma.

Two copies of “Mein Kampf” by Adolf Hitler are still on the shelves.

Gone is “Memorializing the Holocaust,” Janet Jacobs’s 2010 examination of how female victims of the Holocaust have been portrayed and remembered.

“The Camp of the Saints” by Jean Raspail is still on the shelves. The 1973 novel, which envisions a takeover of the Western world by immigrants from developing countries, has been embraced by white supremacists and promoted by Stephen Miller, a senior White House adviser.

“The Bell Curve,” which argues that Black men and women are genetically less intelligent than white people, is still there. But a critique of the book was pulled.

The Trump administration’s decision to order the banning of certain books from the U.S. Naval Academy’s library is a case study in ideological censorship, alumni and academics say.

Unidentified men grabbing someone off the street and putting her in a car because she wrote an op-Ed. This as flatly authoritarian as anything we’ve seen in this country in a very long time.

Heritage Minutes: Agnes Macphail
YouTube video by Historica Canada Heritage Minutes: Agnes Macphail

A half-baked take I have is that in this moment we deeply miss the kind of government-funded education campaigns that produced the Heritage Minutes series.

My generation is better for having grown up in a time when these shorts were ubiquitous on TV.

Kids need to know about Agnes MacPhail.
