Daryl Morey on the Sixers' willingness to go over the luxury tax: "I understand the perception [about ducking the tax]. I hope to defeat it by finding a deal that I can go to ownership and say 'We think this move is the right move to do that'."

"But I haven't been able to recommend that move yet."

Regarding the McCain trade, in addition to the picks I think they just value having that contract off books, and having $4.5m more room under tax/apron to potentially use their MLE next summer, than they have confidence McCain will be a significant piece in next year's rotation.

Daryl Morey, on acquiring a 2026 1st round pick, and whether he specifically targeted one for this draft:

"We're not necessarily using the pick in this draft. It could be used as a move during the draft."

Morey, on whether he had the ability to go over the luxury tax: "For sure if we could have found a trade and ended up higher, we would have done that."

Morey: "I think he has a tremendous future...That return is for a starter quality player on a good team...The bottom line is Jared's a great future bet, and we wish him luck. We feel like this return sets us up better to set up the team in the future."

Morey: "I'm quite confident that we were selling high [on McCain]. Obviously, only time will tell."

Daryl Morey: "That's why we did [the McCain] deal a little early -- we were trying to reuse those draft picks to add now. We do feel like this deal sets us up better in the future, but we were looking to add now, and nothing materialized."

Daryl Morey: "I understand the reaction of the fans, but I feel like that comes from folks being excited about this team. That's why we had this reaction. And they should be excited."

Dominick Barlow's team option for next season is at $3.4 million, per source.

The Sixers have signed Dominick Barlow to a standard NBA deal, per source. The deal includes a team option for next season.

Sixers are signing Parick Baldwin Jr to a 10-day contract, I'm told.

It's worth noting that, after dumping McCain yesterday, the Sixers had room under the tax/apron to convert Barlow. Dumping Gordon wasn't necessary to do so.

So it indicates they'll try to do SOMETHING else (not necessarily huge, but something). Some options listed below.

Sixers trade:

Eric Gordon and a 2032 second-round pick swap to Memphis for the rights to Justinian Jessup.

Barlow conversion to a standard contract on the way

By dumping Eric Gordon on the Grizzlies, Sixers now have a little over $7.6 million in space under first apron.

Gives them options to:
- Use their trade exceptions (up to $8m) to acquire a player.
- Sign players on the buyout market.
- Convert Barlow.

Dominick Barlow now has a career-high in both points (23) and offensive rebounds (10!) with 8:23 left in the 4th.

I am not going to let them allowing Jordan Miller to take it the length of the court in 5 seconds for an uncontested layup with 0.7s left on the clock spoil what was otherwise a fantastic first half for the Sixers, who lead the Clippers 72-53 at the break.

An incredible start for the Sixers in LA, as they lead the Clippers 56-35 with 7:20 left in the 2nd.

The Sixers, shooting 56% from the field and 58% from 3, have also dominated the glass, collecting 7 offensive rebounds on 16 missed shots, 5 of them from Dominick Barlow himself.
