I'm busy formulating a theory about how the cursor is called that because you look at it and curse when it doesn't skip along the screen and do words for you.

04.08.2025 14:31 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0For anyone who's curious, windmills killing birds is a complete non-issue.
FAR more birds are killed by running into windows or powerlines, and being disoriented while flying at night because of artificial lighting.
The number one killer of birds, though? Feral cats.

22.07.2025 11:27 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0As luck would have it, I'll be running late and distracted with this one because we're coming up on #Ropecon weekend here in Finland. Wish I had a cricket bat to take with me.
22.07.2025 11:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I just finished reading @drewmelbourne.com's latest book, "A Dark Hole Darkly" (on sale August 25th). Review coming soon(ish) but wow. I'm gonna have to sit with this one a spell. It was beautiful.

In this snippet, the loyal family butler Jarvis encounters the Archangel Gabriel. Who was made into an Angel at least hundreds of thousands of years ago, if not more. Also contains a pop culture reference from the late 22nd Century.

It takes real strength to admit that kind of struggle. You know what you should do is reward yourself.
08.07.2025 19:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0All I remember about Cocaine Bear was that there was some kind of animal on drugs in it, didn't realise there were people - oh wait, they were the things the animal kept tearing up, that tracks.
I'm overdue for a Supernatural re-watch now it's complete.
Oh man, he was the guy who played the young Han Solo in the movie? I knew he looked familiar (I've only watched two episodes so far and have taken a 10-day break which is kind of a bad sign).
My kids adore Slug and want a whole movie of Slug. I tend to agree.
Congratulations on ... if I have interpreted this correctly ... stretching your budget out to a very frugal and thrifty six months! Reward yourself. With a book.
08.07.2025 12:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Why does "Summer Night Sensation" seem so appropriately similar to "M Night Shyamalan" and this is the sort of horrifying and perspective-altering twist you would expect from him at his peak.
06.07.2025 12:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm still reading and reviewing for people kind (or mad) enough to send me books. Today I dropped a review for the second book in the "Reliance Sinclair" series of cyberpunk sci-fi action intrigue procedurals with hamsters named Walnut. It's a genre *and* a vibe.

Howdy, I'd love to join your crew here. I'm mixing cowboy and pirate lingo, it's a new genre.

28.06.2025 18:02 β π 13 π 11 π¬ 7 π 1I definitely don't want to sit here apologising for studios making reboots and "live action" remakes though! Man, the number of great indie books I've read that NEED to be made into movies...

Oh yeah, they don't have the courage to take a chance on something without a built-in fan base. Then again, it's not like this hasn't been happening since the beginning of movies.
19.06.2025 08:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0How to Train Your Dragon (sad this is so common we need to specify)? I went with my kids, it was OK. I tend to agree with you, but they will take any new variant or content connected to an IP they love. Re-watched the fully-animated version - the old one was muted and muddy in comparison to the new.

I'm pretty sure there was a typo in this "anything A.I. can do, humans can do better" challenge but happy pride moth I guess.
13.06.2025 05:50 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You've been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are coming to rescue you.
At first glance I was relieved, but then it occurred to me that on a worrying number of occasions, Poirot let the victim die while he was worrying about his shirt collar starch levels.

05.06.2025 16:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A woman sits in a starship Captain's chair while a man at the helm looks like he's just said something sassy. They are Commander Z-Lin Clue and helmsman Zeegon Pendraegg, but that's not important right now. Ignore the dashboard bobblehead. It's a replica of a Burning Knight.
I just finished creating a colouring book that I made using paper, pencil, pen and gimp editor for the scans (eraser took and paint bucket tool). It was delightfully soothing to draw in this style and I'm considering doing more. Screw Clippy's weird grandchild, there's no such thing as A.I.

a) He did release the Fire and Blood first-parter since then
b) If all twenty (20) of my books collectively got a tenth of one percent of the attention and readership of his one (1) book, I could quit my day job
c) I also have a full-time fucking day job
Just for amusement's sake, I should also add that I published my first book just after GRRM released A Feast for Crows and every book I've done since has been published while I was waiting for his next book. To be fair...

I've increasingly been discussing this with fellow authors and sci-fi enthusiasts and we're starting to wonder what if this is all A.I. ever was in sci-fi dystopian movies and books? Just roided up Clippy saying "looks like you're trying to launch all your nukes. Would you like help?"
