today is the 104th anniversary of my grandfather’s birth. here he is (on the left) kicking some fascist ass in Italy. I often wonder what my grandfathers would think of our present moment. they were both normal, everyday people who rose to the occasion when called. we should all be so courageous.

years ago, on a road trip from Chicago to Phoenix, I was disappointed when I had to drive over an hour into Colorado to see some mountains.
