Samuel Starks was the first Black person to be a US state librarian, appointed in 1901 in West Virginia because of his position in the state Republican party. He was very active in the Knights of Pythias, founded a newspaper, and died too young. #BlackHistoryMonth

In a deliberate strategy, to harm women and hits rural women first & hardest. The U.S. State Dept. ordered public libraries to cease processing passport applications, disrupting a long-standing service that communities rely on and that has run smoothly for years.

Much of my youth revolved around the website ZineLibrary. It went down around Occupy in a massive loss for a movement whose ideas and knowledge mostly doesn't circulate online but in person.
Anyway I've put it back online with a *thousand* anarchist zines:

The SAVE act will disenfranchise millions, mostly women
It requires ID that matches your birth certificate or passport
If youβve had a name change, your birth certificate wonβt match
The State Dept is banning libraries from processing passport applications
They donβt want certain people to vote

A large black sun print, likely linocut, taking up an entire page. The texture is almost woodgrain.
I'm new to Cleveland and thus the poet Hart Crane. Yesterday, we taught with a 2017 art "book" printing of his epic The Bridge. This contemporary scroll opens with a print of a black sun, a nod to the original publisher Black Sun Press. The scroll form rolls out in front of you, just like a bridge.
