Threads is very functional

Pleasantly, committedly weird and structurally ambitious. Thematic reach probably exceeded grasp and some cheap dream imagery in the front half I don't think it fully justified or stuck the landing on beyond adding intrigue to slow bits. Could have been shorter. Great cast. Very fun. Hot cop.

Look, I find Disney gays a little frustrating too, but that was a bit harsh, Weapons.

The audience I was with erupted with applause and excitement at the post credits which tells me either MCU opening week nerds are very easily impressed or I'm a miserable bastard critic.

It's effective and fun and impeccably cast. I'd probably call it me polished but less compelling than Superman. The choice of intimate focus largely works to its favor at creating a film that has a sense of aboutness and point despite what it's about not being particularly revolutionary.

Fantastic 4 was solid without ever wowing me. Fun aesthetics though trying a bit too hard and Ben just looked rough. Building the plot around a trolley problem was a good move that gave the film a lot of focus, though it tended more towards bathetic that nuanced.

Highlight of my weekend was walking into a bar hundreds of miles from home and unexpectedly seeing a nearly naked poster of myself on the wall.
