Lil video timelapse of the Dan Ketch painting I did. I try to build the values in an underpainting so I roughly know where everything is going to sit before adding details and colors.

I made an inspirational greeting card with a spinning Ken Masters. So to all those frustrated out there: "Don't give up because I am... Shoryuken do it!"

Digital painting of a profile portrait of a screaming Ghost Rider on a bright blue background. The bright light yellow flames are accented by the skull glowing red from the fiery illumination. Shoulder spikes carry the lights of the fire.

Dan Ketch Ghost Rider, on Procreate. Was fun to paint this sucker. I’ll post the timelapse soon. Lemme know if you want me to break down how I made this as well!

Thank y’all for Just King Things it’s been a pillar to my sanity over the last few years. Plus you were on the money about The Tommyknockers being a good read.

This is a simple thing, but the way this phone call from UNCANNY X-MEN #185 is depicted is pretty brilliant, actually.

Not sure if I still have any traction with this these days, but would anybody be interested in commissioning artwork? 🎨

And here’s a lil timelapse of the process of painting this. I love Procreate! It’s helping me practice my in-head visualization. It’s not as concretely valuable as using references (please do!) but I love the experience of rendering the surfaces in my head to really comprehend the lighting.

A full color portrait of The Eltingville Club’s own Jerry as a grown adult, still loving Magic the Gathering. His big smile reflects the golden glow of the Magic cards in his hand. This is his joy now.

Jerry’s done! Living proof that you don’t have to be a miserable fan all your life. Surround yourself with good kind people y’all. ✌🏻 Big thanks to @evandorkin.bsky.social for all the Eltingville stories and giving one of them a happy ending.

Yeah, I’d argue it’s better. I once showed a friend Wondershowzen and just felt bad in real time. πŸ˜‚ Xavier is definitely better as a straight absurdist approach to the American problem lol

A value painting of The Eltingville Club’s former member Jerry experiencing the joy of his love of gaming, with the magic cards in his hand glowing from it.

Did more work fleshing out the values and surfaces on that Jerry painting!

Nostalgia is a pair of shackles people put on willingly. If people wanna reminisce about the 2000s so bad let em watch Wondershowzen and see where the abyss was at the time.

a wall with bullet holes in the outline of someone with an obvious boner. misc bullet holes dot the rest of the cracked wall and a poem is written on the right side. it goes:

i’ll live my life stupidly and without any honor

i’ll never change for anyone, not even my mother

i’m standing right here with my big stupid grin

the firing squad never shoots straight

so why should I give in

I don’t wanna live in a world where you can’t say puns that are just downright god-awful.

Life is punishing enough.

An early step of painting a portrait of Jerry from Evan Dorkin’s series β€œThe Eltingville Club” as a well adjusted adult. Eyes closed, mouth wide open in smile, Jerry’s holding a hand of Magic cards in neat matte plastic sleeves that seem to glow in his hands. An additional back light source highlights the contour of Jerry’s head and shoulders. He’s held room in his heart for joy, and let it grow into a foundation of his life now.

A pen and ink sketchbook drawing of Karin Kanzuki putting M. Bison (Dictator) in a chokehold, with him tearing up. Both fighters are worn for wear, but Karin clearly got the better shots than her Psycho Crusher combatant could put down on her. I used hatching to shade the characters, which I drew in a anime-influenced style. It emphasizes movement, because Street Fighter characters need to flow.

Street Fighter’s Karin Kanzuki is a bad motherfucker who don’t take no shit, and will caddy laugh in your face. πŸ’…πŸ’… My favorite main because that’s aspirational.

Find your inner bad bitch and rise above these goons.

A neat lil timelapse of my Kenpachi Zaraki painting. The track used is β€œCreeping Shadows” by the incredible Shiro Sagisu. Stay creative!

More development over the underpainting! I’m loving how this is coming out. Painting on a screen surfaces makes a huge difference painting confidently. Almost makes me wonder how I worked all this time without it. πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€” Feel free to ask any questions about my process so far!

Fiddling around with Procreate and painting Kenpachi Zaraki, my favorite Soul Society Captain in Bleach. Dude was straight to the point and dodged the monologue.

A shaded ink drawing of a nude woman, with a long snake wrapped all along her body. The serpent is a dark forest green in simple silhouette that cuts in front and behind the women’s body as she joyfully engages with the creature.

Fun lil snake piece I did a coupla years ago. I start all my sketchbook works with ink directly, but with this one I started with the color marker. It was a fun exercise to visualize the bends and overlaps of the serpent before rooting them in with ink.

Self portrait I did waaaaaaay back. Started with ink on paper and colored digitally. It was fun trying to replicate those old comic weird machine shapes.

A digital painting from the inside of a monster’s mouth. Angel, clad in nothing but gilded wings, attempts to free an old broken man from the inside of the maw. Teeth, tendrils, and pincers overlap, with fleeing pidgeons.

This is HERMIT, my favorite painting.

Randomly got the urge to listen to Skee-Lo while I was out drawing, made a silly brushpen sketch about it.

Their brand-and-pop-culture-laced dialogue gets more and more jarring the older I get. It feels like another form of sheltered. Thank you for dedicating art and work to shedding light on this.

Halt and Ketch Fire

Neat lil 90s Ghost Rider piece I put together while out and about. Javier Saltares and Mark Texeira lit a fire under me with their incredible pencil and inking that felt both raw and realistic.
