The problems aren’t from pedal-assist e-bikes (which should be allowed to go to 28mph!!!), e-bike complaints are all caused by e-motos that go 40+mph and are already 100% illegal, but they get sold anyway.

Attacking the good guys because bad guys are using completely different products feels insane

If you want to limit bikes to only 20mph (I used to ride faster than that on my Huffy at age 12!), then you have to FIRST drop all residential speed limits to 20mph.

Until that happens, speed limiting these bikes is DANGEROUS for everyone on the streets and only hurts pro-biking initiatives

Our current 20mph limits on ebikes is an absolute life-threatening nightmare as long as residential speed limits are 25mph. If bikes can’t keep up with traffic on the slowest possible neighborhood roads, then they get hit by those cars or get forced onto the sidewalk where they hit pedestrians.
