Oof yeah, my cat is similar. Most of the time I only know she's feeling under the weather whenever she's either extra sleepy or extra grouchy that day. I make sure to keep an eye on her for a couple days to see if it gets better and if not I'm dragging her out from her hiding spot and to the vet.

Exactly, gotta jump through so many more hoops than it's worth to jump through just to get benefits or anything. Like, I know they gotta double check, but you'd think they can tone down the hoop jumping a little!
