28.10.2025 10:46 β π 19657 π 7581 π¬ 266 π 1340Ended the day watching a lone man row across the absolutely silent lake. What a beautiful day to be alive in the world.
20.10.2025 22:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Karlstein or a little German hobbit village?
Either way it's an incredibly charming little place :)
Thumsee was showing off for us last weekend β I'm so grateful to have this beautiful lake in my backyard
20.10.2025 22:46 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Calling English a 'rip-off degree' is one of the most blatant exhibitions of personal barbarism I've ever seen. You've demonstrated nothing but the poverty of your own mind.
08.10.2025 08:28 β π 3469 π 640 π¬ 182 π 52Just started reading Yellowface (yes I live several years behind everyone else) and in the movie that plays in my head whenever I read something Athena is played by Gemma Chan. And then I learned that Gemma Chan is the same age as me, which I refuse to believe as she appears to be an ethereal 27.
07.09.2025 14:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We also saw this lovely couple celebrating their wedding. What a gorgeous spot for a photo!
05.09.2025 23:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We've lived in Berchtesgaden Land for over five years and somehow only made it to Ramsau last weekend. Churches and hiking and more churches.
05.09.2025 23:22 β π 54 π 3 π¬ 4 π 0A huge moment -- Melvyn Bragg steps down from In Our Time after over a quarter of a century. What a programme and what a legacy! Just a model for how to make great, clever, engaging radio, and a twenty-seven-year experiment that proves there's a huge global audience for smart, scholarly programming.

(If you decide to claim NONTΠ CAROLINA for yourself, please be specific.)
Anyway, just horribly bland and charmless, utterly predictable, and full of terrible writing. 2/10
01.08.2025 23:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Suffered through #MyOxfordYear bc I'm a sucker for the architecture and dear lord was it ever the worst kind of badly written, totally unbelievable slop. Terrible acting and *terrible* attention to detail (surely no one's reading Edna St. Vincent Millay on the Oxford English MSt 1830-1914 strand!).
01.08.2025 23:52 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0Of course :-)

I also sold a book to Susan Sarandon (who had popped in for warmth before one of the Iraq war protests in DC) during my very glamorous year of working as a gift shop cashier at the Folger Library
14.06.2025 12:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I once took a 6am flight from Dublin to Madrid where the sole passengers waiting to board were me, the friend I was traveling with, and Jason Isaacs. I awkwardly stared at the back of his head for most of the flight.
14.06.2025 12:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Hate when there's hot goss about someone's bad behavior on academic twitter and everything's been deleted and everyone's just hinting around the edges all day.
I'm nosy and I want to know! Don't tease us with vague-posting π
Santiago has an airport but you can also fly into Porto and take the train up the coast. (Porto itself is also a great option, but I'm just a sucker for Santiago, haha.)
09.06.2025 10:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Santiago de Compostela is one of my fave places in Spain, it's beautiful and easy to get around, you can go out to the Cies islands, easy train down to Vigo or up to A CoruΓ±a, very lush.
Someone mentioned San Sebastian, which is also lovely but expensive and will be packed.
Any criteria for locations? I'm a big fan of northern Spain in the summer. Galicia has excellent beaches and great food, and Asturias (particularly GijΓ³n) is also gorgeous.
In the other direction, have you been to Yorkshire yet? Some friends just got back and have been raving non-stop about it.
(and yes it took this long for the English version of this movie to make it to our theater β but c'est la vie)
19.04.2025 17:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Saw "The Critic" at our cute little theater yesterday β I don't think the trailers adequately prepared us for this movie. Ian McKellen was absolutely mad, in all the best possible ways.
19.04.2025 17:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Beautiful day β had a little walk, got some snackies, and Brett bought me TWO books β€οΈ Just in time for a week of rain

09.04.2025 00:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Enjoyed a gloriously beautiful weekend in Berchtesgadener Land β we've been here five years and I still can't believe all this is just outside our door
