Thanks to a new Samsung tv with Rakuten TV app I'm now watching Jackie Chan's Armor of God. This is the most insane opening ten minutes of a film I've ever seen, possibly in history.

An incredible game. Just checked and I played for 120 hours, yikes. Spread over 1 1/2 months, so... only about 2.5 hours a day on average :/ - I also have the obligatory notebook with ramblings of a madman.

Cherry Reds Cafe Bar is more like those things than a Traditional Pub but it does have a good beer selection, outdoor seating on a quiet road, and is very close to New Street.

I just discovered that myself, I only made it there once. It had a bar billiards table, RIP.

I saw two dead ones in one day recently. Then a live one with no tail feathers. It was a bad day... for magpies.

"Aye, and Gomorrah" by Samuel R. Delany - well known and justly so. One of the best written, most forward looking, most relevant then and now.

Auto-da-Fé" by Roger Zelazny - another joke, even worse, a bad pun! A matador battling sentient cars, I just cannot see the appeal of this.

The order is all jumbled up, he said as though anyone were reading this.

"Carcinoma Angels" by Norman Spinrad - another joke story (the kind of joke where you don't actually laugh at the end).

I somehow skipped over "If All Men Were Brothers, Would You Let One Marry Your Sister?" by Theodore Sturgeon - incest can save the world! No, really. Neither the journey nor the destination (a factually incorrect info dump argument) are worthwhile.

"Test to Destruction" by Keith Laumer - "submitting a human being to the ultimate trial!" aka derring-do in the psychological realm. Doesn't do much for me.

"Judas" by John Brunner - written "just in case" we start to literally worship our machines. Seems unlikely.

"The Recognition" by J. G. Ballard - veiled misanthropy? Ballard is often a mysterious writer but I don't know if it quite works here.

"Land of the Great Horses" by R. A. Lafferty - origin story of the Romani people. idk. It's just a silly idea?

"From the Government Printing Office" by Kris Neville - the (anti) theory of childcare posited could do with more fleshing out but the POV of a 3 1/2 year old is very well done.

"Encounter with a Hick" by Jonathan Brand - another atheistical story, another shaggy dog story featuring God (kiind of).

"The Happy Breed" by John Sladek - a sort of version of the AI paperclip problem - after you've read a few dozen or more of them these "what if...?" "makes you think, eh?" stories do get somewhat tiresome. It's not really posing a realistic problem.

"Go, Go, Go, Said the Bird" by Sonya Dorman - I can't deny the feminist themes in this and I guess it has a kind of grim poetry.
