My obsessive compulsive need to alias Napari as “np” was what finally convinced me that aliasing is a smell.

i.e., the code that is currently viewed as acceptable for papers is, truthfully, unacceptable and if the tooling improves our expectations as a community should improve too. I know that sucks to hear if you’re a graduate student, but i think it’s better to face that reality sooner than later.

The thing that I've noticed is the people who I know for a fact actually build and maintain complex systems for a living and that I respect as engineers have all reported mixed success with coding agents. The ones crowing from the rooftops are "talkers" who maintain standing by relentless blogging.
