Eventually all the nuance, creativity, ingenuity and brilliance will have been squeezed out of every endeavour and you'll be left with the fuzzy, low-res crap. Even moreso when genAI content is already going to be getting into training sets for other models. An exponential reduction in quality.

It's also that question of innovation and creativity. For all the Facebook posts or tabloid articles fearmongering about how genAI solved some problem in an alarming way, genAI just feels like speedrunning what happens when you make a copy of a copy of a copy but with human creativity.

You might be using "the Turing test" as a generic shorthand for "passing as human" in any context but that's not generally the meaning.

would mean the machine passed the Turing test. So it's a low bar, without adding a lot of other conditions, but is also not a case of "is this a machine, y/n?" but "which of these two is the machine and which is the human?", so marking a paper wouldn't fit the general criteria of a Turing test.

So I'm using the last technology that was going to ruin education - Wikipedia - which describes the Turing test specifically as reading (or hearing) a dialogue, one side is a human and one side is a machine, and the evaluator has to determine which is which. Failure to correctly identify the machine

The only thing that softens the blow of travelling by train in the UK is how frequently you end up travelling for free because of delays and subsequent refunds. Kinda wish it was affordable and reliable but right now it's initially expensive, generally unreliable, ultimately cheap or free

When I say "I can kind of understand it" I mean for the typical Chinese palate and compared with other obvious examples of British chains that would just be considered way too much pastry or other carbs and far too little vegetables

As seen on 小红书: Toby Carvery recommended as tasty British cuisine.

This hurt me deep in my soul. But I can kind of understand it. But it's basically just like a buffet of typical Sunday Roast kind of foods and it's a chain, kind of thing at motorway exits, edge of town, opposite a Travelodge

So are bots a big thing now on here or what? in the last two days I've had random accounts like my 5 or 6 most recent posts/replies, then follow me, and they're all basically just Facebook reposted shitty meme kind of accounts. I'm all for introspection but don't think I invited this with my posts.

So Serena had her first job interview in the UK today and after me talking up employment law and protections and things they can't ask you etc. here the first thing she said is "on the way out they asked me if I had kids" and on a technicality they didn't ask it in the formal interview itself but...

During our meeting in New York today, Zohran Mamdani produced a large handsaw and cut a circle around my chair, causing me to fall through the floor to the level below. "Why are you doing this?" I pleaded with him. "Because I'm muslim and communist" he replied

Yeah, and the thing was, their profile didn't give too much away, so I didn't want to make too many assumptions, but they inevitably got the permission they wanted and posted their pics and sure enough it was a white guy.

I wasn't policing it, just explained what he might want to think about, but he just hit back with how he respects and admires the culture and is learning the language 🤷 and idk, after living there for 4 years he's still using machine translation, so that, too, felt like just another permission slip

I saw an American teacher basically going to 小红书 asking for permission to post his trad. Chinese outfit pics, clearly having posted elsewhere before and gotten some heat from Chinese Americans. Didn't want to be conscious of his actions or impact, just wanted a "REAL Chinese people said I could"

There's no underlying principles or values. Tiananmen isn't something to remember because of any lesson to learn or any principle to uphold it is literally just a jab at China because China is the competition. When the same tactics are deployed at home on their opposition, they'll cheer that, too.

The cognitive dissonance of conservatives, particularly those on the subreddit of the same name, is sharing images from Tiananmen Square on the anniversary. Then making sarcastic comments "I thought this was a photo from when Trump declared martial law" and then days later cheering that exact thing.
