Great thread from @wired.com about longevity grift. 👇🏻 It sells really well. Nobody asks about trials, any data, just push the idea that people can live longer or even forever.

I find it wild that smart people I know with often science/engineering backgrounds aren't applying their reasoning for this when buying this.

I know this is written in the context of Aus, but in the UK the GMC had new guidelines for decision making in 2024. One thing that stood out for me was the emphasis on time, and consent as a process. Is this something you were aware of/considered?

How we approach risk at all levels of organisation from population/gov/business to the individual is complex. I have a close friend who has a professorship (!) specifically to think about how we approach risk as a society (related to nuclear disasters) at just one level.

I think we underestimate how difficult people find risk is as a concept. I don't think there's an easy answer here by any means.
