Pregnancy is a minefield when you're disabled Few OB-GYNs get disability trainingβ€”and their disabled patients are far likelier to die.

Disabled people are 11 times more likely to die during labor/in the postpartum period than non-disabled people. Better education and smashing ableism is how we get out of this horrible stat.

For the past year, I’ve been looking into the topic of disability and pregnancy for @motherjones.com 🧡

It’s really ok to be abortion positive. It can be true that abortion is difficult for some, and easy and affirming for others. Childbirth is also difficult for some and easy and affirming for others. If you’re only policing abortion positivity, might be worth examining where you learned that from.

Not for nothing, but if you are β€œpro-choice” and also transphobic, you are not serious about undoing the control, white supremacy, and patriarchy that make abortion bans possible

As this Administration sows chaos and confusion, politicizes health care, and makes clear their desire to control if, when, and how people have their families, @prh.org will stay diligent and focused on ensuring we can continue to provide the care our communities need to thrive - including abortion.

When you’re pregnant and in a medical emergency, you deserve care immediately.

But today, the Trump administration made that harder by rescinding EMTALA’s guidance around abortion care. Let’s call this what it is: an abandonment of responsibility to the lives of pregnant people.

Propaganda we aren’t falling for:

-β€œAbortion isn’t health care”
-Hormonal birth control fear-mongering
-Transphobia
-β€œDoctors shouldn’t get political”
-The concept of RFK Jr

The cruelty and dissonance of lamenting low birth rates while simultaneously removing programming that makes it easier to start a family - what’s left to say?

A healthy, sustainable planet will result in healthier pregnancies, healthier mamas, healthier babies, and ultimately, healthier families.

Reproductive Justice doesn’t just intersect environmental justice - Reproductive Justice *requires* environmental justice.

Criminalization is the primary way through which fascism advances its agenda β€” which is why we have to interrupt criminalization.

Hey so we are just simple doctors here and not economists but it seems really incredibly and especially cruel to take away people’s ability to opt out of pregnancy in an economic crisis

BREAKING: The Trump admin is yanking tens of millions in Title X funding from Planned Parenthood clinicsβ€”because apparently, birth control, STI testing, and cancer screenings are just too radical. Their excuse? Clinics dared to mention health equity and serve undocumented patients.

Tomorrow the Supreme Court will hear arguments in Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic (previously Kerr v. PP South Atlantic), a case that centers on South Carolina's attempt to kick Planned Parenthood out of its Medicaid program.

Arguments start at 10am ET; I'll be covering them live here.

Trans people deserve trust, autonomy, dignity, health care, and the freedom to make decisions about their futures - just like abortion seekers do. The fights for trans rights and abortion rights are connected.

And honestly, standing with trans people is the right thing to do.

I am one of the FEW abortion doctors left in Texas.
I am Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology
AND Board Certified in Complex Family Planning
I am a Texas #abortion expert
Some might say, I’m THE Texas abortion expert
I oppose SB31/ HB 44
Why?

As an abortion advocacy organization, when we advocate for trans rights someone will inevitably ask: β€œShouldn’t you just stick to abortion?”

No, we shouldn’t, and we won’t.

Abortion ban β€œexceptions” are a performance to make anti-abortion extremists look reasonable. They are not. The β€œexceptions” are meant to be confusing for patients and providers because anti-abortion extremists do not want *anyone* having an abortion, even if it means people die. Don’t be fooled.

A legal battle in Texas threatens to dismantle the Pregnant Workers Fairness Actβ€”putting the rights of pregnant and postpartum workers, and the integrity of congressional lawmaking, on the line.

It’s not uncommon for non-physicians to dispense medication abortions: Nurse practitioners and midwives are legally authorized to provide medication abortions in over 20 states in the U.S.

We are losing cliniciansβ€”fast. People are leaving states with abortion bans. Medical students & residents choose not to train or practice in places where they can't provide evidence-based care. Dobbs + dangerous abortion bans are exacerbating what was already an urgent, dire shortage of providers.
