Oh, Gonzo was also briefly cast as the Nose of Sauron with his chickens as the orcs. I don't know why that wasn't on the list. Gonzo is strangely a good match for all the characters in LotRs. He's somehow every man.

My family was very stuck on Kermit being either Frodo or Gandalf. We argued for a long time about whether Kermit could carry the ring and I was outnumbered 3-1.

That's pretty solid actually. The kids wanted him to be the big thing that Gandalf fights.

I personally don't think Kermit could carry the ring, and I actually thought Gonzo should be Frodo. Basically over the course of the hour or so that we discussed this we all talked ourselves into casting Gonzo for every single character.

I just discovered this hilarious list of which muppets we'd cast as Lord of the Rings characters I made with my family on a road trip this summer. Gonzo was a HIGHLY controversial casting, as you can see. Somehow he ended up as both Gandalf and Gollum. 😂
