The CEO-to-worker pay ratio at S&P 500 companies last year was 285-to-1. The median employee would have had to start working in the year 1740 to earn what the average CEO received in 2024. Is it any wonder why so many think the system is rigged?

despite our panoply of efforts to make life on earth far more unpleasant than it needs to be, nuclear war is still the biggest threat to human civilisation.

White House Orders NASA to Destroy Important Satellite The White House has instructed NASA employees to destroy two major, climate change-focused satellite missions.

Wow. The Trump regime is taking #Climate Denial to a whole new level. This is truly what @naomiaklein.bsky.social & @astra.bsky.social labelled "End Times fascism."

A poster titles: "Are We Making Progress On Climate Change?"
"Annual emissions are still rising (slightly)."
A stacked area chart shows annual CO2 emissions from High Income Countries and the Rest of the World.
"In the richest countries, they're shrinking, and the global trend is heading the same way".
A line chart shows the annual CO2 emissions change (5 year average). High income countries went into negative emissions growth 15 years ago. Trump says undocumented immigrants do farm work "naturally" because "they don't get a bad back."

Mississippi's Declaration of Secession similarly said slavery must be protected because "by an impervious law of nature, none but the black race can bear exposure to the tropical sun."

I spoke to a solar installer in Jan, asking when the best time is to get solar. He said ASAP because they're so cheap he predicted many makers will go belly up, resulting in higher panel prices. Looks like he was right.
Again, put them on your roof now because prices will likely climb soon.

far to little outcry or shock over the texas situation.

We are turning Earth into a unlivable Hot House Earth
Earth was about 2.65 degrees Fahrenheit (or about 1.47 degrees Celsius) warmer in 2024 than in the late 19th-century (1850-1900) preindustrial average.

The 10 most recent years are the warmest on record.

11 more NYC libraries will soon open on Sundays A $2 million City Council deal will expand seven-day service to more than 30 branches citywide.

Eleven more libraries will reopen on Sundays, thanks to the leadership of the City Council. They never should've been closed in the first place.

As Mayor, I'll end this absurd budget dance that keeps our beloved libraries in limbo year after year.

Achieving 45% clean power instead of 36% would,

☀️ produce an extra 36 TWh of clean power
