“The Best of Minnie Riperton”, a great introduction to her work and one of the few records I’ve gotten… basically for free, thanks to a reward points system at one of my locals, Record Collector’s Paradise.

I think it's an important milestone in every music fan's life when they come to the conclusion without anyone suggesting it or nudging them towards it, just purely realizing on their own time and of their own volition, that "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" is one of the best songs ever made.

Halfway through the bottom 10 on this week's #AT40 on SXM and it's been a really good batch of soul & funk tunes so far! I can't wait to see what comes to derail it...

the 60s, 70s & 80s one-week wonders (songs that either charted in the top 40 for just one week or just peaked at 40) have always been some of the most interesting parts of #AT40 for me, and this is a damn good song from Curtis Mayfield.

“A Tiger’s Tale” by Leroi Conroy, the new debut album from one of the guys running @coleminerecords.bsky.social and a cinematic soulful sound that would fit perfectly in a 70s action flick or a Wu-Tang album.

I’m halfway through it so far… I like “DAISIES” and I guess “BUTTERFLIES” is ok too, the rest of it has been so nondescript & forgettable tho (except for that “soulful” interlude which… ew)
