Always. If a no would stop me from writing or trying to think of crazy ways to get my foot in the door to pitch again, I wouldn’t be cut out for this. No isn’t the end, you tweak whatever you need to then head right back into banging your head against the wall till you get through.

I think that’s why I failed, no preparation. I had them until they asked why I was the person to write the story I was pitching. I froze. That killed all the momentum I had. Just make sure you know your story, be passionate, and know how you’ve weaved yourself into the story.

I’m Gary.

I write queer characters, and typically about religious trauma. Lots of horror stories lately. Biggest highlight I have is actually getting to pitch a show once. I love anime, sports, and gaming.

Every night. That sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. Hopelessness. My partner sleeps, and I just lie here. I scroll. I try to sleep. Nothing makes it go away. Nothing makes it better. Eventually I pass out. Wake up tired, numb, and do it all over again. Every night.

You think if Sesame Street put together a preschool styled show that was close circuit broadcast only to the White House and/or Mar a Lago with the soul purpose of showing Trump how a president is supposed to behave that he might start to emulate the show? I doubt it, but it might work, right?

As I sit here waiting for my partner to finish their shift, I’m once again reminded that hundreds of useless people lack the ability to simply Google when a business is closing on a holiday, you know, when they’re likely to close early. Even more are inconsiderate enough to try and enter the exit.
