We show a lower frequency of inhibitory events when recording from neurons from male rats as compared to females. This suggests that the DMS is less inhibited in male rats, allowing for more flexible responding.

We followed up on our behavioral findings by recording from neurons in the DMS. We found baseline sex differences in DMS inhibitory synaptic transmission.

We found that male rats were sensitive to Pavlovian outcome devaluation and this flexibility relied on CB1Rs in the DMS. Females were not sensitive to devaluation.
