Your going to be using winehq.org to run windows applications on Linux, so make sure all the programs you need work properly appdb.winehq.org (general applications), www.protondb.com (steam games). I would recommend using usebottles.com to manage your windows applications.

I would recommend starting with kubuntu.org or fedoraproject.org, both are very easy to install, and should handle pretty much everything for you.

finally finished M.A.G.E, a very basic rogue-like game, me and some friends made in unity for a university project. i wrote some of the code and i composed and mixed the soundtrack (it's been really fun learning fmod).
