Good morning.

Word of the Day is as beautiful as it is underused. β€˜Confelicity’ is finding joy in the happiness and success of others.

A repeat thought, Bluesky, & a Librarian told you this so it must be true 🀣

Audiobooks definitely count as reading (as well as listening). If you've played through an audioook, its perfectly fine to describe that as "I have read [x]"

All other forms of assistive software count as reading too πŸ’™πŸ“š

Just a reminder to support your local public libraries! Write letters of support. Use the library often & in many different ways. Show up to meetings.

Library staff have been begging for help, advocacy, and action for years. Please show up for libraries.

Lee Fang: Imagine being an 18 year old young male voter. When you were 11, the MeToo movement launched and men across the board like you were deemed oppressors. When you were starting high school, liberal politicians closed your school and forced you to take classes online. The women around you don't seem like victims -- they are going to college at way higher rates, earning far more than men in many professional white-collar jobs, and are way less likely to be addicted to drugs and as lonely as most of the guys you know. Your peer group of other young men play video games and enjoy memes mocking the dominant, suffocating, woke culture across all the major entertainment and academic institutions. How is voting for the establishment Democrat who avoided any voting process or scrutiny for her nomination in any way appealing?

Remember when you were an 11 year old boy and women started coming forward about their rapists and you thought, oh no I'm next?

ALSO I LOVE LIBRARIES! I started an MA in English thinking I'd be a college professor but then I started working in libraries and really fell in love with the culture and mission. I finished my MA but plan to start on an MLIS in the near future. anyway I love libraries n I'll never shut up about em

When I'm not working I'm reading, playing video games (Nintendo Swich, PC & PS5), listening to music, spending time with my partner, and petting my two wonderful cats. All at the same time!

An introduction in case anyone wants to follow:
I am a public librarian in a mid-sized mid-south state. I'm very passionate about maintaining intellectual freedom while standing up for injustice and fighting against censorship!

Do not obey in advance. Most of the power of authoritarianism is freely given. In times like these, individuals think ahead about what a more repressive govern- ment will want, and then offer themselves with- out being asked. A citizen who adapts in this way is teaching power what it can do.

NYT Games and Cooking are BEHIND THE PICKET LINE. Please don’t play or engage with Games or Cooking content while the strike lasts!

News coverage β€” including election coverage β€” is NOT behind the picket line. It’s okay to read and share that, though the site and app may very well have problems.

Just got a library card from my local branch, and highly recommend you do the same if you don't have one. You can watch movies, read ebooks, do research, and use equipment that you would have to pay for anywhere else. In case you need a reminder!
