She did have comprehensive insurance. But they made her pay the full ‘excess’ amount cos the insurance company couldn’t get any money from the faulty party (the kangaroo I guess). HM felt ripped off, but they did get her car fixed well and quickly.

Completely understandable Adrian. HM had to do the same (and in her case, check how bad the damage to the front of the can was).
