They still use those? I was at Dulles, high school class trip to DC, in 1967 (airport newly open). That's what took us from the plane to the terminal then. Never been back there (have been to National).

Reading a 1954 novel (George Simenon's The Brothers Rico). The lead character buys a plane ticket from NYC to San Diego (I imagine not nonstop, prop plane). It costs $162. In 2025 terms, that's nearly $2000. One way, cross country. That was normal then.

Apart from it being a good idea, CA state law requires that when an area is devastated by fire, earthquakes, or otherwise and new housing is needed, some of it must be for moderate income people. CA suffers from a lack of affordable housing, and this is one small step.

Be wary. In a multi-candidate field in the primary (likely to many running), a plurality is all that is need to win (I think ranked voting limited to city offices?) So don't count him out. On the other hand, other alternatives would be available in the general election.

Funfact: Orban Viktor is the correct order for his name. In Hungary, like China (and actually Japan but not observed in the west) family name is first, given name second. Yes, that means Gabor Zsa Zsa.

Is there ranked choice for Dem primary, or is that only for city offices? If not, plurality wins so a problem. However, the leading good candidate could also run as independent or 3rd party in general election.

If winners not there, they used to be able to designate someone else to accept. The Brando Godfather win changed that. Rutherford won in part because at the same time she also starred in the Miss Marple/Agatha Christie mysteries which elevated her presence.

I choose to think Justice Jackson knows what she is doing. I don't know the details. Only speaking for myself, although others who know a lot more say it was the best move she could make among not good choices.

Her expectation apparently is that the Appeals Court where it is now will deny the stay. If so, more difficult for the SC to overturn.

It was Justice Jackson who granted the 48 hour stay; I expect she knows what she is doing. Read some analysis elsewhere.

To get it passed it could be done now, just set the starting time to Jan 20, 2029. When the 2 term limit amendment was passed, to get it done it exempted Truman as current president. If not - if a Dem president, Repubs more likely to pass.
