All hitting is abuse. If you were manipulated into believing otherwise I'm sorry. No has the right to use an object on someone smaller and less developed than them. If you were told that was discipline, then you were lied to. In more countries, it's being banned.

A lot of kids whose parents used physical force with them learn how to suppress their emotions, not deal with them in a healthy manner. Because they're taught that they deserve to be hurt, they're not allowed to actually express any negative emotions, and most of the time, take it out on other kids.

It's the complete opposite in my experience. Hitting kids just makes unable control their emotions. All of them were bullies when I was at school and none of the parents cared so long as they weren't giving them a hard time. Research, experience and countries without cp are all proof of this.

Authoritarian parenting with physical discipline results in kids being a-holes in personal experience. They become bullies who don't know how to handle their emotions and make it everyone's business. They are rude and entitled.
