The pretense that unbiased journalism doesn't allow for evaluative judgments is stupid and weird and obviously untrue. Every time a killing is described as "brutal" or a politician is called "embattled", journalists are making judgments based on norms.

Idk if this made the national media as much but they didn’t just occupy parliament they also protested outside specific govt buildings whom they made demands of including my work. We had to work from home until the occupation was cleared. Then within a couple of months their demands were met

The legitimately innovative thing about AI is that it is a completely bottomless pit. It's swallowed up:

- all energy sources
- all our data
- all investment dollars
- all new jobs
- all capex
- all attention
- and now, all hardware components

This sublimation may involve channeling social unrest toward scapegoated communities, such as immigrants in the United States (this is one key function of racism), or an external enemy, such as China or Russia, to again take the case of the United States. The larger theoretical backdrop to this discussion is how politics, including geopolitics, may overdetermine economics. The state's efforts to resolve the crisis of legitimacy and stabilize the social order runs up against the accumulation strategies pursued by the [transnational capitalist class] and capitalists' efforts in each country of the world to shift the burden of the crisis onto working and popular classes. In its attempt to secure legitimacy and assure the reproduction of the social order as a whole, the capitalist state can and often does impose restraint on capital or push the process of capital accumulation in certain directions. Yet such imposition runs up against the selfsame capitalist state's drive to promote (transnational) capital accumulation.

Everything since 2020 is such a blur. I would like to put together a timeline of events from news articles (just to keep things straight in my own head) but it’s daunting

We know that the police internally were against some things like masks. Decision making on covid meant to be nothing to do with them yeah, but they had opinions like we all do. Imo they strategically withheld support leaving govt on their own & frightened. That was my impression at the time anyway

I’ve been pondering this more & I expect it to eventually look more like civil war in a lot of places in the West than nations v nations. Here too if this govt gets its way. we are already at war in terms of information
