Some kind of artist who probably spends too much time programming tools instead of making art. For a bit of both, see for instance: tomlechner.com

Gregg is a former Marine and Forest Service ranger. He's saved the lives of hikers dangling off a cliff or going through cardiac arrest, and he's bravely fought forest fires to save small rural towns.

100% of his salary is paid by WA state.

Elon fired him. Share his story.

I think I found the heart of the forest! It's called the Barkenstone.

If you are into making art with open source software, or you make such software, you should consider talking about it at this year’s Libre Graphics Meeting! If you are just curious, come to it anyway, it’s a good way to meet people passionate about making art software free to all.

Had I done the loop instead of out-and-back, it would have taken so long that by the end I would have gotten past Starvation Ridge, and ended in darkness, but I didn't want to push the metaphor that far. As Sam Gamgee says, "there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo... and it's worth fighting for."

What's up, in this case looking up at firs covered with frost, and a lot of rope like lichen (or moss?) snaking up the tree trunks.

To celebrate MLK day today, the only thing worth celebrating today, I went #hiking at Mt. Defiance on the Columbia River. A brutal incline, with only a couple of good views, but still worth it to put in the effort. I only did an out-and-back hike, so it was a lot of defiance.

Some fungi and a skink, who is also a fun guy with a great tail, for Friday the 13th! Well, technically they were from yesterday, along Eagle Creek in the Columbia River Gorge, but I didn't process them till today..
