the magic of the Muppets is that there are two fourth walls. they constantly break the one that reminds the audience they are performers. they NEVER break the one that reminds the audience they are puppets. this dynamic is the key to their entire comedy style

The city of Minneapolis, where you can genuinely say "but WHICH dildo related anti-ICE demonstration in 2026 did you mean?"

In my defense for not noticing this earlier: I was born with straight hair, and only got curls after chemo. That was, however, almost 2 decades ago.

Every time my hair gets wet, it forms inexplicable round spirals. I’m beginning to suspect that I may have curly hair.

You have no right to call me anti-anti-Trump given that I wrote in Edmund Burke in 2024 after writing 35 Substack pieces criticizing Harris and Biden.

me? oh yeah, fine. I'm doing great. just sort of left my body for a second to observe the current moment and my place in it from a high angle, sort of like what I imagine you'd see from a spy satellite? but one that can look through time? but yeah, I'll have that report done by the end of the day

I know we're all seeing 87 unhinged things per day, but "guys if our multi billion dollar product doesn't start being useful for something, literally anything, the people might not appreciate us wrecking the planet over it anymore" is a truly bananapants thing to say out loud

I guess I do think if you participated in the arrest of a five-year-old you are probably just fundamentally incompatible with society. That you are not a safe person for humanity to be around, generally

There’s no point during the detention of a five-year-old that any person with a functioning moral center would not step back to reassess the situation and their place in it. That nobody involved did proves they lack the common interiority required to successfully coexist in ordered society.

I think this is why police refuse to loudly and publicly toss ICE under the bus--even though they would be heralded as heroes. Because the next step after ICE is gone is setting firm boundaries so that cops can no longer do in "private" what ICE did publicly.

Private = not in white neighborhoods

One basic pattern here is that DHS officials are engaging in violence simply because they are irritated at citizens protesting them. There is no plausible threat of violence here. He just wants to inflict pain, and believes there will be no penalty for doing so.

Trump Regime Can't Stop Minnesota From Prosecuting (And This Isn't CSI) | Shouldn't Need to Be a Lawyer by Matthew Cortland Get more from Shouldn't Need to Be a Lawyer by Matthew Cortland on Patreon

Hollywood trained people to think "no FBI cooperation = no case." Wrong. Under the rules of evidence, eyewitness testimony is proof. Video authenticated under oath is proof. Minnesota has both. You don't need a ballistics report when multiple witnesses watched an ICE agent shoot a woman in the face.

>β€œher young children no longer have a mother”

That’s not accurate. They have her wife. You could say they lost their mother, which is true. But please don’t erase her wife, who was in the car with her when she was murdered.

Abolish and prosecute ICE. They did a murder in broad daylight today. Imagine what they're doing in the closed facilities we're somehow not even allowed to see.

Remembering today that having your heart broken is a necessary step on the path to becoming fully human. Whichever heartbreak is your first, it’s probably critical that a state break your heart so that you can develop a political imagination. If this is your first, I’m sorry and also welcome.
